OUR SERVICES

Inspiring.
Innovative.
Evidence- Based.

When we opened TLC Rehab, our goal was to break from the norm and to offer a treatment model not centred around the 12 step programme. Our treatment model is based on modern, innovative and creative approaches to the treatment of addiction. Our model aims to explore people’s strengths, giving people a real world platform that works.

Assessment
The first, and most important part of the treatment process is always a comprehensive assessment of every patient’s needs and risk factors. This process will start from our very first contact with you, when we will take down some details about your substance misuse, treatment history and any physical or mental health issues that you may have. Once an admission date is agreed, prospective clients will complete our online ‘pre-admission form’ which when submitted will go straight to our medical team who will then make contact with you to complete a ‘pre-screening’ assessment, so that we can plan for a safe admission into the service. The assessment process continues on the first day of treatment, where our Nurse will complete general medical observations before you see our substance misuse specialist Doctor for a substance misuse dependency assessment. It is at this point that the Doctor will prescribe detox medication and devise a medical treatment plan to ensure that all of your medical needs are met. A risk management plan will be created, in collaboration with you, whereby we record any potential risks that you may face, be it relating to suicidal ideation, self-harming or a physical health concern such as diabetes. We will ask you what will help to manage and alleviate these risks from your perspective, things that you know will work such as ‘going for a walk’, ‘taking a time out’, ‘listening to music’. We will also offer specific activities and interventions that we think will help to minimise any risks and help to improve your overall health and wellbeing. We will review this risk management plan throughout your treatment stay with us. Our primary objective is to KEEP YOU SAFE
Detox
We offer ‘medically managed detoxification’ for people with an alcohol and/ or opiate dependency. Detox is a very specific medical intervention, with a treatment pathway that is prescribed by the NICE Guidelines. Like any other medical condition, our Doctor follows these well researched and evidence based guidelines, to inform his prescribing of medication and associated treatment plan. All of our staff are trained in the administration of medication and use of internationally recognised withdrawal assessments, such as the CIWA-ar and Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS). You will be placed on regular observations so that our staff can check in on your wellbeing, sometimes up to hourly. After 48-72 hours, most people are stabilised on the medication and in most cases, you will start feeling much better very, very quickly. The total length of time you will be on alcohol withdrawal medication will be around 7-10 days and for opiates 14-21 days, though this is entirely dependent on your level of dependency when you enter the service. We can absolutely assure you that you will be DETOXED COMFORTABLY
Rehab
Our primary rehab programme is at the core of everything that we do. When people are suffering with an addiction, they are crying out for help, desperately looking to find a way out of their problem. However long someone attends our rehab programme, our aim is to provide each person with a platform from which to recover and prosper. We do this by giving people the belief that they can do it, showing them that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Many people enter rehab feeling irrevocably ashamed, remorseful and guilty about their behaviour, the harm they have done to their families and the consequences that they have caused to themselves. We help people to reverse these feelings and give them an opportunity to reconcile with themselves, through intensive counselling and group therapy sessions. We will then empower, educate and arm our clients with the vital coping mechanisms, tools and support systems that they will need to implement on a daily basis, so that they have every chance of long-term abstinence from addiction, recovery and freedom. We guarantee to you that when you leave our rehab centre, you will have 100% confidence that you can DO THIS
Aftercare
The most important step in a person’s recovery from addiction, is that first step OUT of the rehab door, back into the ‘real world’. We all have busy lives and experience events that cause us anxiety, stress and grief. From employment issues, to everyday relationship problems and family difficulties. These events test everyone, and we all suffer to some degree when faced with challenges in our lives. For our clients, often their first response to dealing with such challenges is to take a drink or a drug to mask the feelings. It could be argued that this isn’t always even through choice, it is a learned behaviour. Our aftercare programme aims to assist our clients to continue the achievements made in rehab, to continue a life of abstinence from substances and addictive behaviours. We provide a weekly aftercare group session at the clinic, as well as an online meeting for anyone that can’t make it to the face-to-face session. We will also call each client every day for a period of time after they have completed rehab, to check-in and keep in touch. Our phone lines are open 24 hours a day, and encourage clients to call us whenever they are facing a difficult moment, or feel close to lapsing into old behaviour. We will also send out a monthly newsletter and hold regular recovery events such as an annual barbecue and charity sporting events where we will raise money for charity. We Promise to stay in touch, and that your journey with us will continue once you have left the rehab, for as long as you need us.
Family Support
We recognise that addiction affects more than just the person taking the substance. It is often the Mothers and Fathers, Brother’s and Sister’s, Spouses and close family friends that reach out to us in the first instance. Their primary objective is always to simply do whatever they can to help their loved one to get better, by booking them into our clinic. Our job and our promise to them is that we will do our utmost to do whatever it takes to help their family members recover from their addiction. We also feel that we have a duty to help the family members themselves. We do this by going above and beyond to build a therapeutic alliance with close family members and friends, learning from them so that we have a better picture of the person that we are treating, but also to provide a support mechanism for families to free themselves from the worry and pain that they have suffered throughout the person’s addiction. We provide a monthly family support group at the clinic and stay in contact with each and every family member throughout our client’s treatment journey, providing updates and progress reports as well as opportunities for concerned others to talk about their thoughts, feelings and experiences and signposting where we feel it is important.
